 Task 1-Anaylsis

what is a studio production ?

A studio production is anything that is made to look like a real place as it is easier to work in a controlled environment this helps with scheduling weather and many over things.

There are many different types of studio production:

Live to tape-Something that is made to feel live but isn't (match of the day) 

Pre-Produced- made edited and sent out 

Live- filmed and sent out at the same time 

Examples

 Live- SNL, any morning breakfast show

Live to tape- tipping point, the chase

Pre- produced- any film

Advantages of studio production - controlled environment, weather, location, scheduling, sound, lighting 

Disadvantages of studio production - creativity, restriction  

To figure out what we wanted to do in our show we did a lot of research looking into different types of studio production such as:

late night show

Task 2-Research

For research we looked at many different studio productions we settled on x factor we looked at the shots they use how they use multicam to capture authentic reactions of the audience and the judges and how we could implement those things into our own work. The visual style is very bright and harsh on the judges face with the backdrop being moody and vibrant. For our studio production we decided to run without a script help keeping the authenticity of the moment as authentic as it is in productions such as x factor this helps keep the reactions true to the judges and the people playing them.

This helped us during production also helped us capture authentic reactions on the multicam as they do in x factor and many other talent shows. Furthermore we planned to recreate the harsh lighting styles of x factor mostly because it helps capture the pressure that is put onto each contestant as well as the judges whose opinions they are seeking the most as the judges and the contestants have all the attention on them the lighting helps represent this in the studio production.

Our production date was 23/03/2023 we managed to get all of our footage in that day so it went quite well scheduling wise, on the other hand the other group I was placed in to help out we had to reschedule our first date and moved it one day forward which didn't set us back much we managed to get that footage collected all in one day again and we managed to do the post production on the same night which took us 4 hours overall, during production of my main group there were some misunderstandings on set such as camera positioning which  I was in charge of  both camera and lighting but didn't have much of a say in it, but overall we managed to get our footage. Task 5-Evaluation

Overall both studio productions went well in the process we managed to get both finished by the deadline and had fun doing it with the censored show we all had fun on set and the process went swimmingly I could of expanded my knowledge further of using the lighting panel for future events but I still learnt a lot from the experience i also expanded my knowledge in post production as i was alongside Kenz Day and Jack Harrison during the editing process and we all implemented our own ideas for the editing and we also bettered our understanding of editing in the process, the studio production of show us your pipes also went well in production apart from a couple misunderstandings on set such as camera work and lighting, I mentioned the lighting to the rest of our crew and how it was blaring and didn't look as well as it could  but they didn't have a problem with it until they saw it in post production also i had a better camera angle chose which was changed by the producer during the production, I didn't agree with what was chosen but i went along with it and we still managed to get all of our footage complete.

Overall i think both studio productions did well in time management and scheduling but I do think we could of improved as a group and it would of been a better experience if we were all on the same page during the production of show us your pipes
